Father, it has been too long
Since I have prayed.
I know my fault, I feel it
In the way I am despairing.
Forgive me for my lack of faith,
For daring to believe that I
Could do this alone.
Apart from your presence, all is madness.
Return to me, I pray,
Joy in the commonplace,
An understanding of my need for friendship,
And words underneath my pen.
Let me feel your breath as it whispers
Poems of life and beauty,
Let me see the Christ in His glory:
The love of a family.
Remind me of my need for You.
Inspire me through the words
Of your prophets and poets, whose prayers
I speak with a renewed heart and voice,
Finding my own prayer.
Father, make me restless, until I find
My rest in You.
